The Strapless Gown
Why do women covet the strapless gown? Especially since this style is one of the more difficult silhouettes to wear well. Several reasons come to mind
- The Red Carpet
- Fashion Industry Promotes Sexy Moods
- Everyone Else is Wearing It
- It Sells
I’m sure you can think of other reasons. Do not take this as being a negative style. It is very alluring and sexy. It is meant to get you thinking if this style is right for you.
The fact remains, women like to wear what is in style. The strapless gown has seen several seasons of success. Manufactures and designers will attest to this fact. If you are considering this style, ask your self a few questions
- Is this a style I wear often
- Am I willing to spend extra for this style
- Do I have the build this style requires
If you answered yes then the strapless gown is for you. Be honest because
- pictures after the wedding will be
- the fashion police will be looking and
- you deserve a style that takes your breathe away
No matter what the occasion is, you want memorable pictures you enjoy showing. Fashion police, you know who they are, are very judgmental so choose a style that takes your breathe away.
What Are Your Expenses?
The strapless bridal, evening or Prom gown comes with added expenses. You may not see it at first but your pocket book will before it is all done and said. With this style, the silhouette is form fitting. How do you get the perfect fit for this style? It can be achieved by choosing the proper under garments. The more you have up front, the more you will need to support it.
Most strapless gowns have some support. Some even have corselets built in. Is it enough support for your size? If you have an A or B cup size probably, yes. If your cup size is larger, consider the gravity factor. Adding extra boning to the bodice and cup will give a more pleasing look. It will also keep your proportions in balance. Built in corsets may also need adjustments by a skilled seamstress. Do not skip this step unless you want to end up on Funniest Home Videos. The difference is proper fit versus a gown you have to keep pulling up. The corset needs to sit properly on the body for this to happen. It is not the bust or how tight the bodice is that holds the gown up. It is the under garment. Let no one tell you any different.
If the gown has very little support, you will need to purchase a corselet or long line bra. If this is the case, it may need personal fitting by an expert. That may mean adding extra boning to what is already there. Not all corselets are equal. You want the breasts to fill the fullest bust area of the gown. You want nothing above or below this area. Consider styles that are smooth, lace and ribbon free for no show through.
