Wedding Gown Preservation
How Important is a Wedding Gown Preservation to you? I like to think wedding gown preservation is important for a few reasons. Past memories of the fun you had while wearing your gown. Restyle to update the look if a daughter chooses “something borrowed”. Construct a christening gown to pass down through the generations. First Communion dress from the details you fell in love with. If nothing else read the story of what happened to my bridal gown. Then you can be the judge. Years ago, o.k. 28 as of April 2006, we were married. Oh the unforgettable memories of that day with all our friends and family there. All of the details were taken care of. Once the big day was over, I had to think about the best way of cleaning/storing my bridal gown. I started by asking others who had gone before me what process they used for gown restoration. Most of them took it to the local cleaners. Well I was not “in the know” and did the same thing. Little did I know that I was putting my trust in someone who was not a professional in wedding gown preservation? The day I went to pick up my gown I was appalled, disgusted, angry…and had no recourse for the outcome. The gorgeous beads were discolored. The sequins that were left were half melted in crusty blobs. Some of the lace motifs were missing. Mind you, I didn’t have this budget killer gown. My style was simple/elegant. It just said ME all over it from the first time I tried it on. I fell in love with it. Every gal knows when she has chosen the perfect gown. She sparkles. You can see it in her eyes. Can a Bridal Gown Self Destruct? The not so funny part about it all was the cleaners couldn’t do anything about it. It was out of their hands. “What, you have to be kidding me”. Wondering, “Now what”. I didn’t think storing your bridal gown was that big of a deal? I take the gown and drive very slowly home. My mind is boggled and when that happens it is not on driving. (You’ve never done that have you?). After getting home, I put it in the closet. Maybe the gown will self destruct and I won’t have to do anything with it. Wedding Gown Preservation made Simple Don’t let this happen to you. Cleaning, Restoration and storing your gown is simple. It is a preferred choice over leaving the situation to anyone without experience. Whether you purchased a simple/elegant gown or one that is full and fun, rely on experts that know the process. Not all dry cleaners have experience in wedding gown preservation. You will be happy in the end when you choose a company that specializes in gown preservation. Your gown is thoroughly cleaned with extra attention given to the neckline, trim and hemlines. The experts shape the gown, position a full bust form and fill the sleeves. It is then wrapped in acid-free tissue (Celebrity Kit is wrapped in unbleached muslin), and fitted carefully into a preservation chest with an acid-free display window. The preservation chest is then enclosed in a 700 lb. test shipping carton. The preservation process will be completed in 10-15 business days after it is received. Please Note: During the height of busy season (July - September), the preservation process may take slightly longer. Repairs or additional services requested may also extend the processing time.
